Acquisitions: 2009-2011 features works of art acquired by the Federal Reserve Board's Fine Arts Program over the past two years. Since 2009, the Fine Arts Program has added more than 400 artworks to the Board's permanent collection. These additions represent a wide variety of techniques, mediums, styles, and art movements, and the artists who created these works come from both national and global communities. During this period, the photography collection has grown significantly, adding another important dimension to the Board's art collection.

No government money is used to purchase art, so the acquisition of these works of art was made possible by the help and dedication of the Federal Reserve Board's Fine Arts Advisory Panel and many generous individual donors. Together, these acquisitions add important works to the Board's permanent collection and provide a rich artistic experience for its visitors.

The Fine Arts Program was initiated by former Board Chairman Arthur F. Burns in 1975 in response to a White House directive encouraging federal agencies to partner with the arts. Since that time, the Board's collection has grown to consist of more than 900 works of art, including drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, and sculptures. All have been either donated or purchased with funds given by private citizens expressly for the purpose of acquiring art.

Acquisitions: 2009-2011 is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., except federal holidays. Reservations are required at least five business days in advance. For reservations and further information, please call (202) 452-3778 or fax (202) 736-5680.
