It is anticipated that a portion of the closed meeting of the Board of Governors
of the Federal Reserve System on Monday, May 21, 2001, will be held under expedited procedures, as set forth in section 26lb.7 of the Board's Rules Regarding Public Observation of Meetings, at the Board's offices at 20th Street and C Streets, N.W., Washington, D.C. Application by Royal Bank of Canada, Montreal, Canada, and Rock Merger Subsidiary, Inc., Raleigh, North Carolina, to become bank holding companies through the acquisition of Centura Banks, Inc., Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and notification to acquire the nonbanking subsidiaries of Centura Banks, Inc., and thereby engage in extending credit and servicing loans.
