The Federal Reserve Board today announced its approval of the following applications and notice: Mizuho Holdings, Inc. (In Formation), Tokyo, Japan ("Mizuho"), under section 3(a)(1) of the Bank Holding Company Act ("BHC Act") (12 U.S.C. § 1842(a)(1)) to become a bank holding company by acquiring The Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank, Limited ("DKB"), The Fuji Bank, Limited ("Fuji"), and the Industrial Bank of Japan, Limited ("IBJ"), all of Tokyo, Japan, and thereby acquiring the U.S. subsidiary banks of DKB, Fuji, and IBJ;
Mizuho, under sections 4(c)(8) and 4(j) of the BHC Act (12 U.S.C. §§ 1843(c)(8) and (j)) to acquire the U.S. nonbanking subsidiaries of DKB, Fuji, and IBJ, and thereby engage in certain permissible nonbanking activities; and Mizuho, under section 25A of the Federal Reserve Act, 12 U.S.C. § 611 et seq., to acquire Fuji Bank International, Inc., Los Angeles, California.
