The Federal Reserve Board today announced the appointments of Karen H. Johnson as Director of the Division of International Finance and Lewis S. Alexander and Peter Hooper as Deputy Directors, all effective October 17, 1998.
Ms. Johnson joined the Board's staff in 1979, was promoted to Assistant Director in 1985, and has been Associate Director since 1997. She holds a B.A. from Radcliffe College and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Alexander first joined the Board's staff in 1985, left to become the Chief Economist of the Department of Commerce in 1993, rejoined the staff in 1996, and was promoted to Associate Director in 1997. He holds an A.B. from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from Yale University. Mr. Hooper joined the Board's staff in 1973, was promoted to Assistant Director in 1984, and has been Associate Director since 1997. He holds a B.A. from Princeton University and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Effective October 17, 1998, Edwin M. Truman will be Senior Adviser. President Clinton has announced his intention to nominate Mr. Truman as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs. |
