Chairman Alan Greenspan of the Federal Reserve Board today issued the following statement: "In selecting Roger Ferguson for the position of Vice Chairman, President Clinton has chosen a person highly respected by his colleagues. "Governor Ferguson is an outstanding public servant, with broad experience and sound judgment. I look forward to working with him in this new role upon his confirmation by the Senate."
Federal Reserve Board member Roger W. Ferguson, Jr. today issued the following statement: "I am delighted to have been nominated by the President to serve as Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. During my tenure at the Board, I have been engaged in a wide range of policy matters and enjoyed immensely working with Chairman Greenspan and our colleagues. I welcome this opportunity to expand my role in this vital institution."
Federal Reserve Board member Edward W. Kelley, Jr. today issued the following statement on the nomination of Governor Roger W. Ferguson, Jr. as Vice Chairman: "I strongly support the nomination of Roger Ferguson to be Vice Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. We have worked together very closely since his arrival here. He has made important contributions to all of the various components of our activities and his contributions will be enhanced when he becomes Vice Chairman." Governor Kelley, appointed in 1987, is the longest-serving member of the Board. |
