Federal Reserve Board member Edward W. Kelley, Jr., underwent a successful balloon angioplasty this afternoon to clear a blockage in a coronary artery. The procedure was performed at Georgetown University Medical Center where Governor Kelley was taken after he reported experiencing some chest discomfort at about 11 a.m. Governor Kelley, a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System since May 1987, is expected to remain in the hospital over the weekend and then recuperate at home for about two weeks. |
