securities transfer services and recognizes the total System
revenue for these services. The Federal Reserve Bank
of Chicago has overall responsibility for managing the

depository institutions and recognizes the total System

Atlanta, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the

Board Statement of Financial Accounting Standards
No. 87, Employers' Accounting for Pensions (SFAS
87). The System Retirement Plan for employees is recorded
on behalf of the System on the books of the
Federal Reserve Bank of New York, resulting in an increase
in expenses of $97,419 thousand. The expenses
related to the Retirement Benefit Equalization Plan and
the Supplemental Employee Retirement Plan are recorded
