The amount of commercial and industrial loans at domestically chartered commercial banks begins in 2007 at just under $1 trillion, rises steadily throughout 2007 and most of 2008 to reach a peak of nearly $1.3 trillion in October 2008, then declines to end 2008 at about $1.2 trillion.
