Note. The notation "n.a." indicates the lesser detail available from banks that do not have foreign offices, the inapplicability of certain items to banks that have only domestic offices, or the absence of detail on a fully consolidated basis for banks that have foreign offices.

1. All transactions between domestic and foreign offices of a bank are reported in "net due from" and "net due to" lines. All other lines represent transactions with parties other than the domestic and foreign offices of each bank. Because these intra-office transactions are nullified by consolidation, total assets and total liabilities for the entire bank may not equal the sum of assets and liabilities, respectively, of the domestic and foreign offices.Foreign offices include branches in foreign countries, Puerto Rico, and U.S.-affiliated insular areas; subsidiaries in foreign countries; all offices of Edge Act and agreement corporations wherever located; and international banking facility (IBF).   Return to table

2. Components of "Trading Assets at Large Banks" are reported only by banks that reported trading assets of $2 million or more any quarter of the preceding calendar year.   Return to table
