Federal Reserve Board of Governors

Welcome

Welcome. On behalf of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, we'd like to welcome you to The Housing Market Going Forward: Lessons Learned from the Recent Crisis.

Over the past several years, the Federal Reserve System has employed the full range of its research, analytic, and outreach resources across the country to better understand the problems of our housing market. This policy forum represents an extension of that work.

This forum will convene leading thinkers on the topic to reflect on the failures that led to the crisis, and discuss ideas about policy prescriptions to enable the housing and mortgage markets to work better going forward. Among other things, we expect to explore avenues to increase transparency and accountability, discuss the proper role for governmental support of housing, and consider the housing and financing needs of lower-income and lower-wealth Americans.

We thank you for your participation, and look forward to a day of vigorous and informed conversation.
