Market value level from ICI, Assets of Closed-End Funds, Equity Funds Total. Prior to 2007q1, capital gains are estimated based on the percent change in the Dow Jones U.S. total stock market index (series FI073164013) applied to the previous quarter's level. Beginning 2007q1, unadjusted transactions from ICI by subscription, Closed-End Funds, Net Issuance of Shares, Equity Funds Total; capital gain is the change in the level less unadjusted transactions. Data for the most recent ten years show no significant seasonality.
