Addressing the Risks of Pursuing Post-Secondary Education
November 28-29, 2016
Washington, D.C.
Although the economic returns to investments in post-secondary education are generally positive, many students carry debt burdens that can limit their economic opportunities. This conference will focus on potential areas of risk for individuals pursuing post-secondary education and on groups most likely to experience negative outcomes when encountering such risk areas. The conference will also address approaches to reducing these risks and improving outcomes for students. A report will be released in conjunction with the conference presenting findings from focus groups held with financial aid administrators in July 2016 to explore the counseling techniques they use and the challenges they encounter in helping students navigate their financial decisions.
