Is the Federal Reserve headquarters under construction?
The Federal Reserve Board's Eccles Building at 2051 Constitution Avenue N.W., which was originally constructed between 1935 and 1937, is undergoing a renovation and expansion. As part of this project, the neighboring building at 1951 Constitution Avenue N.W. is also being renovated. Renovations began in 2021 and are expected to be complete in several years.
Modernizing the Eccles and 1951 Constitution Avenue buildings will consolidate most Board staff into one campus; reduce off-site leases; and provide a modern, efficient workspace for employees to conduct their work on behalf of the American people.
The Federal Reserve will remain open throughout the construction project, and Federal Reserve operations are not affected.
